Apple has officially launched CarPlay Ultra, the next generation of CarPlay that deeply integrates the iPhone with a car’s entire system to deliver a seamless and customizable driving experience.

Starting today, CarPlay Ultra is available with new Aston Martin vehicle orders in the U.S. and Canada. Existing Aston Martin models with the latest infotainment system will also receive the update in the coming weeks. Other automakers like Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis have committed to bringing CarPlay Ultra to their vehicles soon.

What Makes CarPlay Ultra Different?

Unlike traditional CarPlay, which displays iPhone content on a single screen, CarPlay Ultra spreads across all of the driver’s screens, including the instrument cluster. This means your iPhone apps and real-time vehicle data — like speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, tire pressure, climate control, and advanced driver assistance info — appear natively on multiple displays, perfectly integrated with the car’s own interface.

Drivers can control everything from media to car-specific features using touchscreen controls, physical buttons, or Siri, creating a smooth, unified experience. iPhone-powered widgets also provide quick information tailored to each screen.

A Unique Look and Feel for Every Automaker

CarPlay Ultra allows each brand to express its design language through custom themes that align with their vehicles’ aesthetics. These themes are co-created by Apple and the automaker’s design teams, offering personalization options like colors and wallpapers so drivers can tailor their interface to their tastes.

Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Aston Martin, said,

“Aston Martin is delighted to have collaborated with Apple and to be first to launch CarPlay Ultra."
